The dose may be increased, if necessary, after 2-4 weeks, to 0.8 mg daily.<br \/>\nDrug Interactions:Concurrent administration of other alpha1- adrenoceptor blocker, antihypertensive, diuretics with tamsulosin could lead to hypotensive effects.<br \/>\nHow Supplied:Strip contains 10 modified-release capsules in packs of one strip.<br \/>\nPrecautions:<br \/>\nAs with other alpha1-blockers, reduction in blood pressure can occur in individual cases. At the first signs of orthostatic hypotension (dizziness, weakness), the patient should lie down until the symptoms have disappeared.<br \/>\nDuring driving or operating machinery, patients should be aware of the fact that dizziness can occur.<br \/>\nPharmacological Properties:<br \/>\nTamsulosin selectively blocks alpha-1 adrenoreceptors (alpha1A-adrenoreceptor subtype) in the prostate, resulting in relaxation of prostatic and urethral smooth muscles. It is more selective than prazosin.<br \/>\nTamsul\u00ae increases the maximum urinary flow rate. It relieves obstruction by relaxing smooth muscle in prostate and urethra.<br \/>\nSide Effects:Dizziness, headache, asthenia, postural hypotension and palpitations may rarely occur. Postural hypotension may be exaggerated by exercise, heat or alcohol ingestion. Because tamsulosin is more selective on prostate than prazosin, it shows less dilator effect (postural hypotension) than that seen with prazosin.
